What’s Happening On The Sonny Side – To The Work, To The Work
To the work! To the work! We are servants of God, Let us follow the path that our Master has trod; With the balm of His counsel our strength to renew, Let us do with our might what our hands find to do.
There is no question that Christians are to do good works. We learn this from our Savior. Luke begins the book of Acts with these words, “of all that Jesus began both to do and teach.” (ACTS 1:1) Luke records for us in ACTS 10:38, that Jesus went about doing good.
As Christians we show our faith by our good works. There is no question that God has blessed the work at Eastwood. He has brought great servants to us. He has raised up great servants among us. Men, women, boys and girls have risen to the task of serving the Master.
In our visitation work we have seen people of faith rise to the top. William and Sandra Huggins have done a good job of leading and keeping us up to date with what has been done, by faith, in working for the Master.
April to December 2004 = 206 Visits made, 94 phone calls, 297 cards mailed, 82 contacts made with people other than Eastwood members.
April to December 2005 = 406 visits made, 193 phone calls, 396 cards mailed, 171 contacts made with people other than Eastwood members.
April to December 2006 = 635 visits made, 235 phone calls, 175 cards mailed, 292 contacts made with people other than Eastwood members.
Aren’t those exciting increases!
The apostle Paul wrote, “You plant and water and I will give the increase.” (1 CORINTHAINS 3:5-8)
We have planted and watered and God has been faithful to give increase. We have not doubled in number for sure, but we have witnessed His increase.
Try God! Test God! He will come through every time. He is faithful to His word. Will you be faithful to His word? I am looking forward to Sunday evening as we study a lesson titled, Making Disciples and Disciple Makers.
Brethren, you know our mission. You know that East Florence is ours. God has given it to us. It is our mountain. You have gone and gone but will you go again? We must get ready to go out farther into the world. But let’s not forget East Florence.
To the work, to the work we are servants of God. I’d like to be rich. I’d like to be famous. I’d like to be BIG, strong and fast, but I am glad that I am God’s servant. I am glad that I am serving with you.

You’re right Sonny. We need the gospel “into the world.” East Florence is a part of that world. I think sometimes we discount this area because it’s the Bible belt. We need not do that. If we don’t rise up and take our communities through loving them and loving each other, we will never be able to take the good news of Jesus to the rest of the world.
