Like A Comet From The Sky, 2008 Is Headed Towards Us……Fast

Yep, it is approaching us at Rapid speed. 2008 will be here soon. Do not allow the New Year to come as a “thief in the night.” Be ready for what God will open to you individually and to us collectively, at Eastwood. We will begin the New Year with a “Hog Jowl and Black-Eyed Peas with all the fixins” lunch/dinner. We are inviting all from East Florence who will come. This will begin at 11 AM and conclude at 1 PM. Fix some good grub and sit down to eat!

The first Sunday in January we will begin a class, in the auditorium, for all adults. We will study Bill Bagents and Cory Collins new book, “Equipping The Saints.” This is a study of Ephesians 4:11-16.

The books are going to cost $8.00 each. We are asking that each couple or each individual to purchase their book. If you can’t that is alright. But if you can it will help.

As 2007 ends and 2008 begins our elders are asking each member at Eastwood to pray and think about one thing that you would like to do in 2008. Set your goals high and watch as God works great things in your life that you may be a blessing to others and a good steward of Him.

It is so good to see that our senior group at Eastwood is getting involved with more things. I know this must help them out a lot making them feel closer to the other senior members at Eastwood. All of us at Eastwood have to get that fire lit under us again. We seem to have gotten a little slow going in recent months. I for one, am more determined to invite more to Eastwood and and spread the word where ever we go. I love Eastwood and want to see it grow more everyday. I know if we pray and work harder, that Eastwood will multiply more than we could ever imagine. The Lord is on our side and we must do the things to spread the word and Eastwood will grow and be a shining example to others. May the new year prove our best ever.

    In Christian love,
    Trish

I love the concept of asking each individual to focus on their own special plans for spreading the Gospel and ministering to our neighbors. Even if we can each only accomplish a small task or reach a short term goal, the benefits are priceless. Each of us can focus on our strengths, maximizing our potential for success. Personally, I have several things in mind for the upcoming year. One is to provide assistance by way of material needs to some of our mothers and young children. Another is to open my home and host our youth throughout the year. Has anyone besides myself noticed that our young people are doing a fantastic job of inviting their friends and welcoming them to worship services?
